Police shot and wounded a man armed with a gun inside a Bronx subway station on Thursday night, cops said — the third such incident in less than 12 hours.
Officers responding to a 911 call of a man armed with a gun arrived at the 238th St. station at Broadway in Kingsbridge at about 7:55 p.m., where they quickly spotted the assailant.
When cops attempted to stop the suspect, he jumped down into the subway tracks and ran.
At least one NYPD officer opened fire, striking the man at least once in the hand, cops said.
Medics rushed him to St. Barnabas Hospital, where he was in stable condition.
The investigation remained underway Thursday evening. Service on the 1 Train was suspended as of Thursday night, the MTA said.
The uniformed cops encountered the unidentified senior citizen after arriving at his second-floor apartment in Bedford-Stuyvesant before the bizarre encounter quickly escalated into bloodshed at about 1:10 p.m., according to NYPD Chief of Department Jeffrey Maddrey.
