Former “Saturday Night Live” cast member Victoria Jackson told city council officials in Tennessee that “God hates sodomy” and “homosexuality,” calling it an “abomination.”
Jackson, who performed on “SNL” from 1986 to 1992, did not appear to be joking Tuesday night during a homophobic screed where the 63-year-old comic objected to Franklin, Tenn., holding a Gay Pride parade.
“God hates sodomy, he hates homosexuality,” she said. “And god hates pride, like, one of the things he most hates is pride.”
The “Casual Sex?” star read Bible verses in an attempt to illustrate her point before telling her audience to go on YouTube and look for the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah which, according to scripture, were two cities destroyed by God because of their debauched cultures.
Video posted to Jackson’s Instagram shows a moderator eventually trying to rein in the blathering performer, who finishes her remarks by urging “this generation not to be brainwashed,” then shouting out the name of a YouTube program over the sound of a gavel and hushing, but polite pleas of “thank you.”
Jackson is active on social media, where she indulges in right-wing conspiracy theories about the 2020 president election and vaccines. An unverified Twitter account attributed to Jackson notes that she’s “still working.”
In a 2011 essay, Jackson wrote it was “sickening” to see two men kiss on an episode of “Glee” and claimed to be puzzled that “liberals” are tolerant of homosexuality and Islam. That rant offered a double-scoop of sexual and religious bigotry.
“Frankly, I’m afraid to say anything about Muslims,” she claimed. “Why? Because they kill people.”
