Eighteen-year-old Ethyn Clark of Grand Blanc has pleaded guilty after impersonating a firefighter near Gregory in February.
Clark was charged with impersonating a firefighter and using a receiver or scanner in the commission of a felony. His sentencing is set for 8:30 a.m. Thursday, May 11, in Livingston County Circuit Court.
The teen arrived in a personal vehicle with emergency lights and a siren during a February house fire on Van Syckle Court near Gregory. He had firefighting gear with him, including a helmet, safety vest and radio, according to Unadilla Police Chief David Russell. He wasn’t allowed to participate in putting out the fire, Russell said.
Fire department officials notified police, and Clark confessed to responding to the fire scene, as well as doing the same in surrounding counties when confronted by police.
His bond was set at $5,000. He posted bail in early March. He faces up to two years in prison and fines.
As for the house fire, Russell said the residence saw minor damage, and the garage was a total loss. The fire appeared accidental, but the cause is still under investigation.
