Jury selection for a Wichita Falls man accused of sexually assaulting an 11-year-old is scheduled to begin Monday in 89th District Court.
Daymond Clyde Owens, 43, is charged with aggravated sexual assault of a child and indecency with a child by sexual contact in connection with Dec. 4, 2015, incidents at a Wichita Falls home, according to court documents.
Owens was free Friday from the Wichita County Law Enforcement Center on $60,000 in total bonds, according to online jail records.
He has denied the allegations against him, according to court documents.
If convicted of aggravated sexual assault, he faces up to life in prison. Indecency with a child is punishable by up to 20 years in prison.
Affidavits for arrest warrants filed by Wichita Falls police detail the allegations against Owens and the basis for probable cause for the charges. Anyone charged with a crime is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
In May 2016, Child Protective Services in Fort Worth contacted local police because an 11-year-old child leveled sexual abuse accusations against a man living in Wichita Falls, according to allegations in court documents.
A forensic interview was conducted at the Alliance for Children’s Advocacy Center in Fort Worth. An investigator with the Wichita Falls police obtained the interview and a copy of the child’s sexual assault examination report.
The child disclosed sexual abuse carried out by Owens, according to allegations in court documents. They stayed overnight at his home from Dec. 4, 2015, to Dec. 5, 2015.
The victim said Owens sexually assaulted them while they were trying to sleep, causing the child to wake up multiple times, according to allegations in court documents.
The child told him to stop what he was doing, according to allegations in court documents. The child was 11 when they reported the assaults to their family and to Cook Children’s Medical Center in Fort Worth.
Jury selection is also set for Monday in another child sexual assault trial in 78th District Court.
Chase James Jones, 21, of McKinney is accused of sexually assaulting a 13-year-old he met on a dating app, according to allegations in court documents.
