Disgraced legal scion Alex Murdaugh has been inundated with love letters in the weeks since he was jailed for the murders of his wife and youngest son.
“I think I love you,” Nicole K. wrote in a March 12 note obtained by FitsNews through a public records request. “I think about you all day everyday.”
In a follow-up message, she added: “I swear on my life I’ll never say a single word to anyone important or not important. I genuinely care for you.”
The jailed attorney also received love letters from Lacie K., who described herself as a “small town girl from Missouri.”
“I am here if you want to talk. Or vent,” she wrote. “XXLacie.”
Some of his other admirers include Shianne D., a “bored 31-year-old female” who could “use a friend too,” and Destiny H., who believes Murdaugh is innocent of murdering his loved ones.
“You didn’t kill your family, somebody else did and you don’t wanna tell it,” she wrote. “I give you all the love for not snitching but then again, sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do for your freedom.”
Destiny also offered to send “some pics” to the disgraced attorney.
Murdaugh received the series of love letters during his brief stay at the intake facility, Kirkland Correctional Institution. He was held there for several weeks to undergo medical and mental evaluations before his transfer at the end of March.
As of Wednesday, Murdaugh was being held in a protective custody unit at an undisclosed South Carolina maximum-security prison, where he will serve out his double life sentences.
A Colleton County jury deliberated for less than three hours before they agreed to convict Murdaugh in the murders of his wife and son.
Maggie and Paul Murdaugh were found fatally shot on June 7, 2021, near a kennel area on the family’s sweeping “Moselle” hunting estate. The jurors listened to Murdaugh’s defense team argue that more than one killer may have been responsible for the double slaying, which involved multiple gunshots fired from two different weapons.
The panel also learned of Murdaugh’s failed attempt to fake his death as part of an insurance fraud scheme, a fatal boat crash in which his son was involved, and of a housekeeper who died in a fall at the family’s home. The former lawyer also admitted to stealing millions of dollars from his family firm and clients, which he then used to fund his painkiller addiction.
Murdaugh maintained his innocence in the moments leading up to his sentencing. While he confessed to being a drug addict and swindler, he proclaimed that he was not capable of hurting his loved ones.
His legal team has since appealed the conviction.
