Talk about a high school reunion. Cast members from the 1990s sitcom “Boy Meets World” joined William Daniels, who played teacher-turned principal Mr. Feeny on the ABC hit, to celebrate the actor turning 96 on Friday.
In photos shared with People by Bonnie Bartlett — Daniels’ wife and fellow “St. Elsewhere” alum — the couple poses with some of his former “Boy Meets World” costars over dinner in Chicago, where they were guests of honors 2023 Chicago Comic & Entertainment Expo.
Pictured in the snapshots are Rider Strong (Shawn Hunter), Trina McGee (Angela Moore), Anthony Tyler Quinn (Jonathan Turner), Danielle Fishel (Topanga Lawrence), and Will Friedle (Eric Matthews). Conspicuously absent from the get-together was Ben Savage, who starred as Cory Matthews on the show.
Strong, Fisher, and Friedle — who now host the podcast “Pod Meets World” — posted the photos to Instagram, too, writing, “What a life, what an icon.”
And McGee shared videos from the outing on Instagram, including one clip of Daniels inspecting a dish served flambé as the group dined at Chicago’s The Loyalist restaurant.
Daniels also marked his birthday on Twitter, posting a photo of himself, Bartlett, and a cupcake with “9″ and “6″ candles on Friday. “Time flies! Spend it with the ones you love,” he wrote in the caption.
The Brooklyn native reprised his role as George Feeny in “Girl Meets World,” Disney Channel’s 2014 “Boy Meets World” reboot.
In his most recent screen credit, he returned to his “Knight Rider” role — as the voice of KITT — in the 2020 film “Superintelligence.”
And last year, he and Bartlett joined Fisher, Friedle, and Strong on an episode of “Pod Meets World.”
“You all were young and having fun and I was much more serious,” the actor told his former costars at the time, per Today. “So I would hang out in my dressing room away from you all as you fooled around before the camera and then they said, ‘Mr. Daniels, we’re ready for you,’ and then I’d go out. … You guys were having a ball, and I’d taken it very seriously. Frankly, I wish I were one of you.”
He also said that he didn’t tell the younger actors what to do on the show. “I stayed away from being judgmental,” he said. “I took whatever you gave me and I tried to work with it and it worked out very well.”
