Paul Grant, an actor who appeared in “Harry Potter” and “Star Wars” films and other genre fare, has passed away at age 56.
Grant died in London at 3:49 a.m. local time Monday, after collapsing outside King’s Cross station on Thursday afternoon, The Guardian reports.
Doctors declared Grant brain-dead and removed him from life support on Sunday, per People.
“I’m heartbroken,” Grant’s daughter Sophie told Sky News after his death. “No girl deserves their dad to be taken away… He was so well known and loved [for his work]. He’s gone too soon.”
In addition to Sophie, Grant is survived by girlfriend Maria Dwyer, another daughter, a son, and his stepchildren and grandchildren, according to The Guardian.
“Paul was the love of my life,” Dwyer told the newspaper. “The funniest man I know. He made my life complete. Life is never going to be the same without him.”
Grant played an Ewok in 1983′s “Star Wars: Episode VI – Return of the Jedi” and had an uncredited part as a goblin in 2001′s “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone.” In other screen appearances, Grant played a goblin in the 1986 fantasy film “Labyrinth” and had a role in the 1987 period drama “The Dead.”
The 4-foot-4 actor was also a stunt performer, working as a double on “Labyrinth” in the role of Hoggle, performed by Shari Weiser and voiced by Brian Henson. He also did stunts for 1985′s “Legend” and 1988′s “Willow.”
Grant lived with spondyloepiphyseal dysplasia congenita, People reports. The inherited bone-growth disorder results in short stature, skeletal abnormalities and vision and hearing problems, according to MedlinePlus.
Following his death, Grant’s stepdaughter Stacey set up a GoFundMe campaign in his name. “Let’s give him the best send off please,” Stacey wrote in the campaign description.
