A Brownsburg couple was arrested Wednesday in connection with the Jan. 6,2021, Capitol riot, according to the FBI.
Arthur Reyher, 38, and Jessica Reyher, 38, have each been charged with felony civil disorder and four misdemeanors in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia. The couple are slated to appear in court later Wednesday.
A criminal complaint alleges the Reyhers were among the first group of rioters to enter the tunnel areas of the Capitol. The couple are said to have entered the tunnel near the Lower West Terrace at about 2:43 p.m., joining others who were pushing against police officers. They’re accused of entering the tunnel three separate times trying to gain access into the Capitol. The pushes from the mob pinned an officer against a shield and a door, causing him pain, the complaint said.
Arthur Reyher was seen on officer body camera footage and surveillance cameras chanting “our house” as they pushed, according to the complaint.
The pushing continued for several minutes after 3:15, until police pushed the rioters, including the Reyhers, out of the area.
Investigators said an anonymous tipster told them the Reyhers were posting on Facebook about their involvement in the riot. Arthur Reyher told officials in interviews that he and Jessica Reyher were at the Capitol, noting he believed former President Donald Trump lost the election because of voter fraud.
