What started as a welfare check led to law enforcement discovering a 20-year-old woman deceased Saturday after a brief standoff at a residence in Omro.
The Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office assisted the Omro Police Department with a welfare check Saturday. Once it was determined there was a disturbance with a weapon, members of the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office SWAT and Negotiator Team were deployed.
A 22-year-old man shot a firearm multiple times while in the residence and eventually exited after a short stand-off. He was then taken into custody for Recklessly Endangering Safety, according to the sheriff’s office.
Law enforcement found a 20-year-old woman deceased inside the residence.
The investigation into her death is ongoing. The Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office asks those with information to call Detective Ron Timm at 920-236-7369.
