Cheryl Burke opened up about her feelings regarding her ex-husband, Matthew Lawrence, and his new relationship with TLC’s Rozanda ‘Chilli’ Thomas.
The “Dancing with the Stars” alum shared that she was not at all surprised to hear Lawrence wants to have kids with Chilli, reports Us Weekly.
She delved into the topic during a conversation on “The Most Dramatic Podcast Ever With Chris Harrison,” which aired just a week after Lawrence announced his desire to start a family with Chilli.
“He comes from a huge family and there were definitely conversations [about it when we were together],” Burke said on Thursday’s podcast episode. “But I always had said, ‘As long as I had to shove my body in a dance costume, me thinking about being pregnant probably isn’t something I can talk about at the moment.’ But yes, there were discussions about freezing my eggs,” she added.
Burke also mentioned that she’s a fan of TLC and will continue singing along to “No Scrubs,” but will not be attending any TLC concerts anytime soon.
As for her ex-husband, Burke said, “I really do wish him well. … I really, truly hope he can actually have a kid with Chilli. I think that’s amazing. I think he’s wanted that.”
Burke and Lawrence filed for divorce in February 2022, after three years of marriage, citing “irreconcilable differences.”
Lawrence, 43, and Chilli, 52, confirmed their relationship the following January.
The “Mrs. Doubtfire” and “Boy Meets World” actor discussed his previous relationship struggles in an interview with ET. “I wound up getting involved with people that I was trying to please and make happy,” Lawrence admitted, going on to say he felt he couldn’t make someone else happy on his own.
“You can love someone to death, and you can be in a toxic relationship and it can spiral out of control and ruin both your lives. What works? Trust and respect,” he added.
Burke responded to those comments as well, telling Chris Harrison, “If that’s what it was for him, that’s fine, but that doesn’t mean it was like that for me. … Life is a choice.”
