A Pike Township woman will spend 18 months in prison for her role in the shooting death of 45-year-old Craig Blackshear last summer.
Megan R. Coladonato, 36, pleaded guilty Friday to two felony counts of obstructing justice and tampering with evidence. She was indicted in September.
Coladonato had been set to go to trial on Wednesday. Stark County Common Pleas Judge Taryn Heath sentenced Coladonato to 18 months in prison.
According to court records, Blackshear was shot around 10:20 p.m. July 7 on the porch of a home in the 1800 block of Fourth Street NW in Canton.
Coladonato and a 15-year-old boy were charged in Blackshear’s death.
She was accused of stoking an argument between herself and the victim, leading to the teen shooting Blackshear multiple times, according to police accounts.
The pair were arrested about a week later.
The 15-year-old was charged with murder, according to police and criminal complaints filed in Stark County Family Court.
Under Ohio law, the teen was charged as a juvenile but he could be tried in court as an adult, a discretionary ruling to be made later by a juvenile court judge.
Melissa Day, chief of the juvenile division of the Stark County Prosecutor’s Office, said a motion to bind the juvenile over to common pleas court was filed. A ruling is expected in the teen’s case next week.
A message was left Monday with Coladonato’s attorney.
