A missing Stoughton woman was found alive Monday by hikers at Borderland State Park in Easton, where she may have been trapped in a swampy area for up to three days, police said.
Emma Tetewsky, 31, had been reported missing June 26, reported. Police had spent days searching for her. Police said she did not have her cellphone with her.
Easton police said they rushed to the state park at about 6 p.m. Monday after the hikers heard screams for help that were coming from a swamp-like area and called 911.
“The hikers were unable to reach her on foot without assistance,” police said. “They notified Easton police and directed them to her location.
“Three police officers entered the water and waded through thick brush and swamp until they located a woman approximately 50 feet out from land,” Easton police wrote in a news release. “They were able to reach her and carry her back to land where Easton firefighters were able to render aid.”
“It is believed that Tetewsky may have been trapped in that area for upward of three days before being heard by the hikers,” Easton police said.
“Emma was conscious and alert, and she was taken by ambulance to a local hospital for observation,” Stoughton police wrote.
Tetewsky was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital in Brockton with what are serious, but not believed to be life-threatening, injuries, Stoughton police said.
