Dozens of people were injured and a Louis Tomlinson concert was postponed after hail pounded Colorado’s outdoor Red Rocks Amphitheatre, officials said.
Seven people were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries and between 80 and 90 people were treated at the scene as a result of Wednesday night’s storm in Jefferson County, the West Metro Fire Rescue announced.
“Injuries include cuts and broken bones,” the fire agency said in a tweet just before midnight local time.
A crowd had gathered to watch a performance by Tomlinson, who rose to fame as a member of the boy band One Direction.
“Devastated about the show tonight, hope everyone’s ok, I’ll be back!” Tomlinson, 31, tweeted early Thursday. “Even though we didn’t play the show I felt all of your passion! Sending you all love!”
Organizers announced two weather delays Wednesday night and urged fans to seek shelter before officially postponing the concert.
One attendee said she was nearly trampled as fans tried to find cover.
“I managed to hide where they were selling drinks and I used my backpack to protect myself and another girl,” Bella Oliveira told CNN. Oliveira said she came away with a hurt head and shoulder.
Located about 15 miles outside of Denver, the popular Red Rocks Ampitheatre has hosted major music acts including the Beatles, Stevie Nicks, Cher and Neil Young.
The English-born Tomlinson is currently on a world tour in support of his second solo studio album, “Faith in the Future,” which came out in November. He has not announced a rescheduled date for the Red Rocks show.
