After Amanda Bynes was detained by the Los Angeles Police Department over the weekend, the former Nickelodeon star is reportedly on a 5150 psychiatric hold.
The “Easy A” actress was placed on the hold — which can last up to 72 hours — after police officers determined her to be a danger to herself and others, TMZ reported.
The outlet previously reported that Bynes was handcuffed and taken to a police station on Saturday morning after authorities received a call about a woman in distress — a call made by Bynes herself, according to the site. Onlookers told TMZ that Bynes was calm as she talked to the cops who responded to the call.
The ex-child actor was reportedly placed on a 5150 hold in March after walking through Los Angeles without clothing, flagging down a passing motorist, and then calling 911 herself.
Three weeks later, Bynes was released from a mental health facility in Southern California with a plan to start outpatient treatment.
A source told Entertainment Tonight in April that the 37-year-old and onetime fiancé Paul Michael broke up before that mental health crisis and hospitalization.
“Amanda broke things off with Paul in January and kicked him out of her house,” the source said. “She realized that ending the relationship would be best for her. Amanda is doing well and taking care of herself.”
Talking to ET at the time, Michael said, “She’s doing well. I really love the experience that we got to share together and that we got to know each other, but there was nothing I could do.”
Bynes is known for starring in the Nickelodeon sketch comedy series “All That” and its spinoff “The Amanda Show” in the late 1990s and the WB sitcom “What I Like About You” in the mid-2000s.
She was under her mother’s conservatorship for nine years until a judge terminated the arrangement in March 2022.
