‘Several’ U.S. agencies are among the victims in a worldwide cyberattack, federal authorities said Thursday.
The attackers targeted a vulnerability in the popular file-sharing program MOVEit.
On Thursday, the U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency said it’s “providing support to several federal agencies that have experienced intrusions affecting their MOVEit applications,” executive assistant director for cybersecurity Eric Goldstein told CNN. “We are working urgently to understand impacts and ensure timely remediation.”
Cybersecurity experts suspect the hackers are a Russia-affiliated ransomware group known by the acronym CLOP, but that had not been confirmed Thursday.
The cyberattack is the latest in a far-reaching assault against dozens of companies and organizations in recent weeks.
