The trial for University of Missouri hazing defendant Benjamin Parres has moved from next month to January 2024, according to online court records.
Parres, of Chesterfield, is charged with felony hazing, related to an Oct. 19, 2021, hazing event at the former Phi Gamma Delta fraternity house. During the event, freshman pledge Danny Santulli collapsed after drinking large amounts of alcohol. Santulli was resuscitated by personnel at MU Hospital but is now unable to see, walk or talk.
He’s being cared for by family at his home in Minnesota.
Parres is one of 11 originally charged. His trial had been scheduled for July 26 but has moved to Jan. 23, 2024. It will be a one-day trial. His pre-trial conference is scheduled for Jan. 8.
